Not here. Getting the message "Not authorized as root user. Applejack must quit".

Yeah me either. Needs an update. I used this a lot. Esp at work.

*sigh*

I am not used to an OS breaking so many things.

Much has changed. Even simple things like user caches and temp files have moved:
[font caches, dock.iconcache, colorsync.profiles, desktoppicture, and SoftwareUpdate
downloads, etc.] They are now buried inside "/var/folders". So programs that attack
those sorts of things directly (as opposed to through API's) will need to be rewritten.

With some loud music + a friend to chat nearby you can get alot done. - but jezz, I'd avoid it if I had the choice---- If only real people came with Alpha Channels.......:)

For cache cleaning, use any of the other utilities that clear caches: Leopard Cache Cleaner, OnyX, etc.

For repairing permissions, use Disk Utility.

There may be other utils that perform Applejack's other, minor operations (checking the condition of a few prefs files, clearing the virtual memory swapfiles (though that's done every time you restart the Mac), etc.).

perhaps, but applejack's nice because it's a single utility that runs from single-user mode. On several occasions that ability has allowed applejack to repair a malfunctioning Mac, without the need to boot from the OS X install disc or an external drive.

Cold Warrior, I already understand that Applejack is a great utility that does these various things in one utility. I use it all the time on client's Macs. But only the ones running a version of OS X prior to Leopard, since Applejack isn't yet compatible with Leopard. That was the subject of this thread, and hence my suggestion for how people can accomplish the same things under Leopard, until a Leopard-compatible version is released.
