I'm watching an Obama rally on the internet and all these people are holding signs that say "Change" and "Stand for Change" and "We believe in change." Uh... Folks, it's an empty platitude. Some things need change, others don't, and more importantly: "Change to what?" It's not even a vaguely meaningful empty platitude, like "freedom" or "justice," which, though platitudes, at least convey something. Change conveys absolutely no content. Political campaigns are obviously exercises in fluff, but this is particularly cumulous.

Well! Are you FOR CHANGE ...or AGAINST IT?? Political Buzz-Speak is pretty funny though. Emotion Driven, even though it should be intellectually driven.

It's kind of interesting that Obama has "change" plastered all over his signs. He seems to key in on "hope" a lot more during his speeches. So while the other candiates are trying to usurp change, he can just go along speaking the way he normally does. So you don't actually hear him saying change 5 billion times like the other candidates, but he's got his own spin on it. I dunno, it will be interesting to see how the campaigns ch...uhhhh...evolve...from here on out.

That said, it's all still buzzword soundbite swill. It's sad that our current media has forced candidates to go that route, but it's a fact of life I guess at this point.

There more to change than just shaking up the government itself. Someone needs to smack the mainstream media in the head also.

But he--unliked the others--really does represent a change.

I couldn't agree more. Very tired slogan indeed. Thing is, I think we all agree that change is needed. I kind of liked what Guiliani had to say about "change" though... very refreshing. Crudely; "It's not enough to say change, you can have good change and you can have bad change."

Except "change" will be a bad thing in 2012, if a (D) is elected.

I think it's ambiguous for a reason. For me, Change means voting a woman or a black man into office. Hopefully that'll encourage other minorities to seek the presidency and offer some needed balance to this country.
