Following my purchase of a Visor Deluxe, I have realized that I do not need the 8 megs that this model offers. Seeing as I have always wanted an Apple product PDA, I have seen the light and I am planning on getting a Newton.

The Newton that I plan on buying is a 120 that has never been used. The individual who is selling it is doing so for a friend and has little knowledge of the Newton. I was wondering if you could tell me if there is any way to determine what OS the Newton is running (1.x or 2.0) without turning the Newton on? Thanks for any help that you can provide.

I have a 120/2.0 and the model number is H0131. Look on the back and see if this is the case.

Thanks TimmyDee. I'll ask the person to look on the back of the Newton and see what the model number is. I'll get back to you.

I am fairly sure that the 120s started with 2.0.

I'm going to pull your head off because I don't like your head.

Maxelson: The first 120s came with OS1.3. Later on, they were shipped with 2.0.

TimmyDee - the model on the 120 that I am thinking about purchasing is ho131 (the same model number as yours). Are you fairly sure that this Newton would be running OS 2.0?

my mistake- I was thinking of the 130. I got 120s on the brain because I got 6 of them on my desk, awaiting repair.
About MP 2000s. What was the original NOS version there? 2.1?

Yes. 2.1 was the original (and only) OS on the MP2x00s.
