I just got my used ibook, it is only showing 15.8gb of space I have looked at the HD and it is only showing about 5-6gb used for applications etc. Am I missing a place where there is a partion or something?

Is it a fresh install of OS X? If not you would be well advised to do a reinstall. It's usually a good idea to wipe the HD and start over whenever you buy a used Mac.

Oh, also with a 30GB HD, you are probably going to get around 26GB of usable space, so take that into account.
