To start viewing messages, select the forum that you want to visit from the selection below.
I believe that's a shortcut to take you into what they're calling "Presentation Mode" where if you click that icon all your tabs go away and don't comeback until you mouse up to the top of the screen. You can turn it off by going to the view menu and selecting "Exit Presentation Mode." Of course, you can also just mouse up to turn off full screen mode.
