My iMac is from 2013 and I may be a new one soon

Id like a second monitor that's 27 " , and Im studying the previous 4K thread.

Im considering Apples LG 27" 5K but it get a massive number of bery bad reviews.

most of those issues seem to be with pariing the 5K with a MacBook etc.

my concern is that the brighness of the two monitors be similar

Im betting that if a 4K 27" monitor next to the iMac 5K had similar bringness the differentl

resolytions might be fine that's just a guess

so : would the LG 27 " work fine w an iMac ( not a MacBook )

or should I look into 4 K 27 " ?

and would a 4K have the same ' look and feel ' and the 27 " 5K iMac ?

many thanks

According to MacTracker, your iMac can only drive a 4K external display. It wasn't until the Late-2015 iMac before the 27" could drive an external 5K.

External Resolution Up to 3840 by 2160 pixels at 60Hz

thanks

I was not clear

sorry

the second 27 " monitor would be for the new iMac

not my current one.

the Apple/LG current 5K 27 " monitor gets dismal reviews

but possibly only when connected to a MBP ( current models )

ther are some 5 star reviews but they do not mention what that monitor is connected to.

Id like both the new iMac and a current sedcond monitor to be equallly bright

Id bet I could not tell the difference between a 27" 5K ( the current new iMac ) and a 27 " high quyality but 4 K second monitor
