So goin by the lack of responses, does that mean no one really uses a bluetooth mouse with their MBP around here?

if it works, it will be due to the extra power consumption of the Bluetooth hardware.

Works for me, really really well too. I use a Logitech bluetooth mouse (I forget the model).

I use a BT mouse, but haven't paid attention to this.

I don't know if I even have a whine anyway.

Any time I connect anythign to my computer via bluetooth it kills the whine. I generally connect my phone or mouse to my computer whenever I'm at a desk, so I don't hear the whine too much anymore.

As others have mentioned, it's just the increased power consumption.

Well, it sounds like an ideal solution to the whine for me...I want to get a bluetooth mouse anyway so i don;t have any dongles/wires stickin out of my MBP, so this'll be like, killing 2 terrorists with one bullet...
Bad analogy? Yeah, I guess so...

yes, i can (happily) confirm this - connecting bluetooth mouse to macbook pro kills the whine!

I have 17" that whines on AC power (no noise on battery), using bluetooth mouse is best killer i found:

1. it doesn't utilise CPU (or not too much), so it doesn't rise temperature! (QuietMBP and mirror widget trick do rise temperature - widget by 5, quietmbp by 10 degrees celsius)
2. it gives you wireless mouse control nice bonus to me..

I'm glad you posted this. I was wondering why my post count was down to 1 on the last post I had. Piece of crap web server around here apparently. Glad I don't care about my post count on this forum like I do on others.

Connecting any bluetooth device kills the whine instantly - only when it connects. I can power-on a keyboard but not press a key to connect it and the whine remains. But as soon as the connection is established it goes away. Likewise, disconnecting it brings the whine back.

Note that QuietMBP makes my whine WORSE almost at all settings - it doesn't help. Mirror does nothing ... but bluetooth? Pure silence!!!
