Hi there
I need to open a port on my Mac and i have an airport extreme (latest software)... i have looked around for instructions on the net and i have not been able to find a solution.
various instruction told me to enable NAT and Port Mapping however those tabs are not listed in the latest version.
I've used network utility to scan for open ports ... they seem to be open however when i check them on (canyouseeme) it always comes up with an timed out error
Could someone please tell me how I can open a port #
Thank you very much !

In Airport Utility, open your Airport Extreme, click Internet > NAT, Configure port mappings.

Under "internet" I only have "internet connection" and "TCP/IP" tab
Only those two
no NAT

is your airport extreme in bridge mode? That's what it sounds like. NAT is for routing, not bridging. Your cable or DSL modem may have NAT or port mapping options.

connection using: ethernet
connection sharing: off (bridge mode)
using DHCP
i am routing not bridging.

Well...you are bridging since you're not sharing an address. You're relying on the modem (DSL, cable, whatever) to distribute IP addresses. If you want to do port mapping, you have to change Connection Sharing to Share a public IP address. Then you'll see the DHCP and NAT tabs.

But he'll need to put his modem into bridge mode or else he'll be double NAT'ed.

Wait—before you change anything major:
What is the Airport Base Station hooked up to?
If you're not so used to dealing with this kind of stuff, it's probably simpler to just do the NAT in the other device, rather than change the whole bridge/DHCP setup.

right now i have this setup:
right now the main line goes directly to the modem and then the airport express is acting like a router.
so you think changing the NAT/ port mapping on the modem would be easier? (i am not to fond of networking configurations)

Bridge mode isn't routing. You don't have a NAT option in the airport extreme because of this.
What make and model is your modem?

In your browser, open the address 192.168.2.1 to connect to the 2wire router and look for NAT, port forwarding, or application settings.
In your Mac's network system preferences, set its network address (under TCP/IP) to a manual IP, something like 192.168.2.100.
Enter that as the address to forward the appropriate port to.
That should be it.

there doesn't seem to be settings for it. looks like basic configurations only
and it looks like others are having the same issue as i am:

changing the TCP/IP to manual shouldn't affect anything ?

User Extension seems to have had success. I looked at his notes and they should work.
