I figured out a way to refresh the Dashboard after you delete a widget from the Widgets folder.

Kill the Dock process in Activity Monitor. I sorted my processes out by hierarchy and found that all the widgets were within the Dock process. Killed it, waited for the Dock to relaunch, and bam, no more lingering widgets.

If the widget contains Cocoa, a downloaded widget cause safari to bug you before installing it.

The first time you try to run any widget, dashboard will bug you again if you want to run it the first time.

This metatag issue is a problems but there is a lot of misinformation spreading around.

That whole safe to download dmg is a pain, yet the widgets just get installed without any interaction. I've never been a fan of active-x and how it has all of those security holes, hopefully this isn't like that.

Dashboard never bugged me when I run a widget the first time, it just runs the widget.

Obviously there is an issue with the metatag bypassing the download mechanism in Safari and there is an issue with there being no prompt when it is first run.

Hopefully Apple will fix this in 10.4.1. In the meantime. Turning off "Open Safe files" in safari will close this hole.
