Your chances of recovering depend on whether you already wrote data to the disk or not.

I haven't written anything on the disk. I think I have a food chance of getting my data back.

I recovered everything the other day, but today when I tried to opening some of those files, they all seem to be corrupted.
Am I screwed?

I remember I had particular issues with .dmg files - they wouldn't mount. Hard to say if you are screwed or not - what sort of files did you try to open?

You might be able to recover some of the text from the Word and Pages documents. Try typing 'strings' in the Terminal, then a space, then drag a Word document onto the Terminal window, then hit Return. See what happens.
