I'm at work and if I had a choice, I'd have a Mac and something other than Office.
Can someone please tell me how to turn off the highly annoying autoformatting hyperlinks in Excel (Office 2000)? I turned it off in Word, but can't track down the option in Excel. Why can't Microsoft be consistent or would that be an oxymoron?
Thanks
krb

Lousiville Slugger, 34" 31oz, applied to the center of the right side of the mini-tower at maximum velocity. Repeat until satisifed.

The best repair method requires the following: (this works on all versions of windows except of course virtual PC)
1. Find very tall building
2. Open window
3. Push Eject

Opps sorry, I have Office 2002 which has the feature I listed, not Office 2000.
Seems basically you're S.O.L. in Office 2000 without delving into Macro solutions (as linked by amsalpemkus.)
Yup, that's the Microsoft way- pile on the useless annoying 'features' and then give you few or no options to get rid of them!

As soon as Office XP came out, all the CAD guys at the place I was working edited the registry to make things somewhat better. Most people at that job thought that Office XP was a step back for Office. So yeah, its cruel but not unusual.

I really like the first suggestion and the lawsuit idea, but I could get away with using OpenOffice.org a lot more easily.
I may explore the vb option.
I did discover that if you "undo" the last action, it will remove the hyperlink and leave the text as intended, but it's still annoying.
It just doesn't take much for me to get riled up by MS.
Thanks for the suggestions.
