Hey, I have a 2.4 GHz (not the solid body) MBP running 10.6.2, I want to wipe my computer and start from scratch; but i don't have my snow leopard disc anymore. So i was thinking it could use the Firmware Restoration 1.7 update from apple (Firmware Restoration CD 1.7). i've downloaded the right one and burned it correctly to a cd.
BUT, when i go to use the disc it won't work. I hold down the power button and the sleep light flashes quickly-stops-and then you hear a long tone and the computer starts, there are no separate flashes and it never waits for me to put in the disc, nor does it do anything when i try to boot from disc, or simply put the disc in while i hold the power button.
An hints/idea/methods that have worked for you? thanks.

You can't reinstall without your snow leopard disk or the disks that came with your machine.

Firmware is software stored in ROM that tells the computer how to perform the most basic tasks such as booting and basic hardware operation so the machine can boot. It has nothing to do with the operating system. You need an OS system disk (Leopard or Snow Leopard) to reinstall the OS.
