This may be a dummy's question, but I value my iMac and don't want to harm it.

My TV is in the living room, and I like spending more time in there than in the bedroom. Since iMac only requires one-plug-in, it's very easy to move. I like to move it back and forth between the living room and the bedroom.

I shut down the computer completely and carefully carry it to the room, plug it in, plug in keyboard, and i'm ready to go!

my question is: Is it safe to move the computer as often as I do? I know it can harm the hard disk if I move it while it's turn on, but I wait till it is completely shut down before I move it, and don't turn it on till I have it in its new stationary position.

This isn't possible with a PC because of having to move the tower, and so many wires, etc.

What are your thoughts? Completely safe for the iMac to be transported around often?

I hope it is safe. I have had mine for about a year and move it around a lot. It really depends what I am doing.

Go move happy. As long as you don't drop it, when it's off it should be fine.

Moving it is fine, even with the hard drive on (think of all of us laptop users!) if you could manage such a thing (perhaps a UPS in tow).

Using a UPS would be awesome. As a side note, that is how some people maintain their uptime even when they move to a new home.

I would at least put the computer to sleep even if using a UPS by the way.

Sorry for the ignorance, but, what is a "UPS"?
