Hi there,
Does anyone know what the IAC Driver is? I opened Audio MIDI Setup the other day, and since upgrading to OS X 10.3, I have a new MIDI device listed.
It is called IAC Driver, and getting info on it says it is manufactured by Apple. But I can't get it to do anything...

Interesting.
Probably the internal port to QuickTime's General MIDI software synth.

The IAC driver is a sort of virtual MIDI device, that enables the user to route MIDI signals between applications (IA stands for Inter-Application). For instance you could set up a sequencer to output MIDI notes to the IAC driver, and have a separate virtual instrument play from it.

Cool.
Rewire substitute, eh?
Slowly, Apple's hiring the OMS coder to work on OS X is starting to get really interesting...

IAC has been around since OMS. It just made a comeback in Panther.

So can I use it to drive QT's Musical Instruments from Cubase SX?
