im looking for a piece of software that would simply allow me to change the "data" portion of an image. i realize applications such as photoshop allow the input of some of the info, but doesn't allow me to edit things such as the camera used and other misc settings.

A quick Google search finds EXIFutils for MacOS X

oops! guess that file is called the "exif" file. searching "exif osx" and found exactly what i was looking for.
