yeah, i know how, uh, nuts this might seem. but i got set off today by the ugly white background in itunes 9 (grid view).
since this afternoon, have been running my macbook with the screen inverted (white on black).
obviously, with a key command, i can instantly put it back if viewing a video, an image, or working on graphics.
but for basic surfing, email, itunes, logic (!), etc...am having FUN with my mac.
it's sexy, looks high-tech, and...new (plus it's totally annoying my GF).
pictures
not sure how long i'll do this...probably until someone comes up with a hack for itunes. or i get a headache
but no harm otherwise, and, again, am having fun....

the effect looks similar to a program called nocturne. I'm sure it's not the only way to do it.
I like inverting the screen if I'm working in a dark room.

Racist!
I've never understood the appeal of grid view; therefore I completely baffled by your hatred of a white background.

check the forum here, and especially, at apple's own site. a LOT of people are griping about the white background. it's just glaring, ugly. hey, we got firewire back!
i use grid view for my library, and for my itunes folders; my playlists are in list view, with album covers.
there should at least be a choice, a slider for white-to-black, as in iPhoto...
