how can i do this? my macbook takes 20-30 seconds to go to sleep.
i NEVER leave anything unsaved before i sleep my 'book.
terminal command? (i googled, but what i found doesn't work).
EDIT: i think something else is delaying my macbook's sleep, and will investigate.
ah, well...

I have a similar slow sleep problem and found the remote control to be a good way to induce sleep. Just push-and-hold the centre button until the sleep icon appears on the screen.

thanks, but i know that one; also the keycommands to sleep, and even have an applescript i can run;
no matter what, it still takes 30 seconds for my macbook to sleep; something is trying to connect or something..!

Well, what apps are running when you try to sleep? What peripherals are attached? What kind of network connection do you have or are you connected to any servers? Does the long sleep occur if you try to sleep in a guest or test account (if this is SL, maybe don't try testing with the guest account for now)?

i've tried airport off, disconnecting peripherals (audio interface, iLok, drives, etc). sometimes it's fine (like now).
will check console next time, see if i figure out what's tripping things up.
yes, will wait for 10.6.2 before going anywhere NEAR the guest account LOL...
