I'm just wondering how people will react to the US market today? As I'm sitting here, it's past 12am in the west, Monday morning 9/17. Will we look back on this day as some sort of 'Black Monday' or will it be 'Fight Back Monday'? I'm pushing for the latter.

Me, I'm expecting some downturn in the market, perhaps quite a bit at first, but I'm fully planning on BUYING. It's time to do some bargain hunting, before we go terrorist hunting. I fully expect that people will come to thier senses, and the markets will correct upward again and stabilize. Meanwhile, everyone who keeps a stiff upper lip, keeps trading as usual and not in a panic-state, will contribute to the economy's recovery and at the same time deliver a virtual bitch slap to the face of terrorists who have us pegged as easy marks.

I'm also spending my money as I always have, buying whatever goods and services I would have in any event, even more stuff in fact. I'm not taking any of my money out of the bank-- as I've heard reports some nitwits are doing. I'm also not cutting back my plans on flying anywhere I had planned to go, nor am I afraid to fly. I've rescheduled my flight to the east coast that was derailed last Tuesday, to the middle of next month, and I look forward to it. Will someone try to hold me hostage with box cutters? Not before I strangle their ass with the packaging tape.

No, my outlook isn't all roses, but it's not all fire and brimstone either. I'm gonna hang in there, and pray there are enough other people who hang in too, and pull our market and economy back out of the toilet.

Anyone else feel the same, or has FUD-mongering won?

Let's all hope there are more traders than traitors. I'm confident there are.

I think it'll be down somewhat on Monday -- the cliche "the market hates uncertainty" comes to mind -- but it'll come back later in the week. Airline and insurer stocks are going to take it in the shorts, though.

By the way, your strategy is about the same as what Warren Buffett says he's going to do: Hold, then look for some bargains.

Hold and buy. We're doing the same, and have already put in an order to buy more.

I've never been in the market before, and I can't afford very much, but I intend to buy a share or two. It isn't much, but it's something. See my post "Something else you can do..." for more info.
You are in Soviet Russia. It is dark. Grue is likely to be eaten by YOU!
