I am not sure where this topic should start:

Does anyone use their mobile phone for internet access?

My phone (Nextel) does not support MacOS, and I would like to use my iBook on the road. I have researched some mobile phone providers and some (Verizon and SprintPCS) do support MacOS. Has anyone had a good experience with these or any other providers?

All of these providers require a USB -to-serial adapter, and it would be great to find a native USB solution.

Any help would be appreciated, thanks in advance.

It's not the provider that requires USB to Serial, it's the phone. I have Verizon and use a Qualcomm 860. The service is decent, but keep in mind that it's only a 14.4 connection. Fine for email and lite internet but not much else. If you want a serious wireless solution that also is fast and USB you need to try Ricochet.

Many phones have a "data" adapter, that plugs into your 56k modem. That is most likely the best way to go since it works with any OS without software of expensive hardware. Most of the time these adapters are 15 - 20 dollars.
