Did you try ShadowKiller (free) or WindowShade (shareware) from Unsanity?

In case you don't understand why you are looking like a frozen pork chop to a hunger pack of wolves.. Those are OSX apps and not OS9... Notice the first post, Quark 4.1... ummm.... that would be, definitely be, OS9...

how about just talking your boss into upgrading to an OS X compatible version of Quark, so you don't have to use classic mode?

If I remember correctly...
only the drop down menus have drop shadows.
these can be edited in individual schemes relatively easily.
don't think it can be done as a generic setting for all schemes though.

We gonna play the konfabulator/dashboard game again?

First example of windowshading I remember using firsthand was a copland preview. Around the same time a mister "Aaron" released similar functionality for System 7.

Other windowing UI systems around that time also had implementations of similar functionality.

Woah. I just got way overly nitpicky - well I'm not gonna delete it but just to clarify

Windowshade ain't a X thing exclusively =)
I have no credentials whatsoever to post here.

'kay'kay'kay'kay

got it

BUT doesn't the OSX shadow options apps also kill the K-scheme shadows?
I have not tried running Kscope in classic with OSX running - I always have used themes...
so to finally answer ajaimes question . . . is it answered?

I would yes that it is, the haxie's are not going to have an effect on the classic system nor the K-Sheme.. I'll prolly be wrong about this, since i'm answering from a memory over 2 years ago.. but hey i'm wearing fire resistant clothing...

Windowshade came as part of the Windowshade control panel as part of System 7.5 iirc. It was implemented by double clicking on the menu bar. I remember my PowerMac 6500 running 7.6.1 had it installed, so did the Powerbook 5300's I've worked with.

Mac OS 8 actually implemented a title bar button.

My comment implied that Windowshade was coded by Apple, and has certainly been around long before X.

even if i turn off shadows for some reason kaledeidoscope still draws the menus extended,
and i know that using classic with kaleidoscope just draws the menus to the edge

Windowshade was a freeware program (yes another one, not called Windowshade X) that installed as a control panel onto System 6 or System 7.0-7.1. Windowshade is still availiable at ftp://ftp.cs.tu-berlin.de/pub/mac/sys/init/. Download file Windowshade 1.1... You may need vMac/Mini vMac and an old System (http://download.info.apple.com/Apple.../System_6.0.x/) has System 6.)
It was then brought out by Apple and included with system 7.5/7.6 (Download System 7.5.3 at http://download.info.apple.com/Apple...ersion_7.5.3/.)
Mac OS 8 added the button on the right side and integrated it into the System better.

The shadows are scheme-specific. You can edit the scheme to get rid fo them. A screenshot would be very help to see just what it is you're wanting to "fix"
