MacNN is the best online forum out there, IMO. It's friendly, very in-depth, lively, all the right things. I love it.

What I'm wondering: Is there perhaps a similar forum out there that focuses on Windows? I use Macs in my personal life but, like many of us, am forced to use Windows at work (Damn you, Bill Gates!).

Windows users can not experience and will not experience what MacNN forums is. We as Mac users are liberated and free to indulge in such care free activities as righteous social bonding through a digital medium.

Windows users however exist in another sphere, where they have no freedom for such expression or many other things for that matter.

The world of Windows is like the Matrix (cold, locked down, no thought, no emotion).
Mac users like you and I exist in Zion, a free land of pury unity.

I predict most members will agree with me here.

Try anandtech.com for forums. Its not exactly like macnn because obviously there are alot more users, but I have found them to be pretty helpful.

It's so funny that you mention The Matrix. In the first draft of my post, I quoted the exchange between Morpheus and Neo: "...It is the wool that has been pulled over your eyes to blind you from the truth." "What truth?" "That you are a slave, Neo. Like everyone else you were born into bondage."

Speaking of Zion (forgive the tangent), I was a little wary of the name given to the Sith Lord in KOTOR 2 (Darth Sion). It made me wonder if somebody was trying to make an anti-Israeli (or anti-Jewish) statement by make him such an ugly, vicious, nasty wretch.

Maybe I'm just paranoid -- probably a subject for another fairly stupid thread.

Try the Ars Technica forums. Huge Wintel crowd though they also have a Mac community there.

I tend to find Ars a bit elitist, but they are good. Other really good spots are Slashdot, Anandtech, and neowin.net .

neowin.net is probably the closest thing to MacNN from an editorial standpoint. They cover

Other good ones are HardOCP, Rage3D, and nVnews.net .

Thanks for the praise!

But no, I don't think there's anything quite like MacNN! Muahahahaha! (OK, so we can pretend we had a monopoly on good forums. )
