I recently did a clean install of OS 9.04. Now I can't use the CD player on my PowerBase 240.

Might I have the wrong driver? If so, where do I get a replacement?

The CD did work prior to the clean install.

did the cd player come with your system? if not then you need to reinstall the drivers for it.

The CD player came with my PowerBase 240 -- which I bought used. It is a Teac.

Funny thing happened. The CD player worked the other day when I first booted and I was able to access three cd's. Then it stopped working when I inserted #4 -- and none of the previous cd's would work again.

Do these players get some sort of grunge (dirty) and not recognize the disc? Should I clean it with my pressure washer?

Saerch the Apple tech info library.

Believe it or not they have the answer to this problem.

You must have certian extensions enabled, some of which are not labeled as such.

Here are a few that I can remember:

AudioCDAccess
ISO9660Access (I think)

Some are too weird to remember but the TIL should list them all.
I had this problem on my dad's powerbook & the TIL had us up & running in 5 minutes or so.

Good luck.
