I know USB adapters exist from Xitel, Sony and others that allow you to connect your computer to your MD recorder to record MP3's to your MD but, these adapter don't say anything about recording audio from the MD player to the computer.

Is there anything out there that will let you do this? Especially with a digital/optical connection on one end so I can keep my digital audio.

Any USB Audio coverter that includes digital optical connections should be usable. Cgeck out Edirol for some good converters.
