I have a Rev 1 20" iMac G5 1.8. I'm thinking of upgrading to the 20" iMac 2.16 Core 2 Duo.
I am very happy with my current machine but I do a lot of digital photography and would like to start using Aperture. However I'm not to happy with the way that my current G5 runs it - I do have 2gb of memory.
If I get the upgrade I will get a least 2mb of memory as well as upgraded memory for the graphics card.
Do you folks think that I'll see a noticeable difference in performance between these two machines?

I certainly notice the difference between my old G5 iMac and my new 24" iMac C2D.
It handles iMovie, iDVD, iWeb MUCH quicker.

Aperture is for both G5 and intel processors.
Surely, an intel iMac would be faster. But that much?
If you upgraded to a MacPro, that would be a different field, I'd say.
You mentioned "the way your g5 runs aperture" doesn't satisfy you. Can you be more specific?

When I run Aperture on mine, the video card is what causes the most lag. iMac G5 rev. A's don't have the greatest in video cards.
