World,

Does anyone know how to change the default application that a file opens up with when you double click on it?

One way is to take the old application off the computer, then you get a dialog box which asks you which application you want to use when you double click teh file. The chosen one then becomes the new default. There must be a better way?

I'm using MacOS 8.1

Thank you

Go to the File Exchange control panel. The File Translation tab will let you set what application opens a given TYPE of file if you do not have the program that created the file.

The PC Exchange tab lets you map PC extentions onto Mac programs.

To change a default program, Delete it from the control panel window, and the Add the new program.
