I was told that TeXShop would be the easiest TeX installation I ever made. That is true. However, I do have some problems with artifacts. There are two. One is a horizontal line across the top of the page. The other involves the printing of extra text, viz., 0.4pt0pt.

Of course, I have double-checked my input to try to see if I had any commands that would create these; I found nothing.

Please post the TeX code of a minimal example where the problem occurs, otherwise we can't diagnose the problem.
