Your stand on it, open it and fall to your death. Whats so hard about that?
I'm wondering what happens if your standing in one that closed and you jump.

I've been using his bathroom all week and he hasn't noticed.
I ate up his crackers and his licorice, too.

I am at a crossroads of sorts with this game.
I need another big project, but have come up blank the last few times I logged in. I thought about doing another giant mine but I already have two stacks of gold, 45 diamond and plenty of iron, so what's the point if I can't think of anything to do with it.
Not to worry, though, I am still into Minecraft big time, I just need the creative spark to hit me again.
Also, if anyone wants Obsidian feel free to take it from my cavern. There is more than enough to go around.

I was considering a possible group project today, but I need to iron out a few details in my head before I present it.
Also, it wouldn't hurt if I finished my two other projects.

Which reminds me, love the top/front. Makes a nice landmark from the top of the East Watchtower.

It's also practically infinite once you've made it to diamond level/become an accomplished spelunker.

If you want to build with obsidian, make a mold and cast it from lava. Even carrying it a few buckets at a time it's faster. Just be careful about flammables.

Clearing your inventory, filling it with buckets, (and possibly making repeat trips), and constructing a proper frame (and then doing requisite acrobatics as you build it up) strikes me as a poor trade-off.

Well since you need to poor water on it one level at a time, the framing is fairly simple. You also don't need any diamond at all. Either way prototyping with a substitute material (black wool?) is advised.

Logged on, renovated my place, didn't like the renovation, demolished half of it, still didn't like it, logged off frustrated.
I think I'll focus on something else tonight.

I don't find the scale to be an issue, as they're pretty far apart. The height is what bothers me.

Still mining sand. Walkway from dakaria to jawbone 2/3 done.
I'm annoyed you can't put lights on glass.
Has anyone cultivated pumpkins, or can you only find them?

You can only find pumpkins. I saw some recently trying to remember were... I want to say behind the temple of time but i'm only 10% sure. Jack-o-lanterns aren't any better then torches though. And pumpkins make lousy if amusing helmets (they render backwards).

Aforementioned walkway from Dakaria, as it's being called, to my place is done except for the long-delayed bridge. I'll finish the bridge tonight. I've created a rose-sided pathway using stone slabs (a building material I have thus far neglected to my chagrin).
Before I begin any major projects, I'm going to work on finishing my protective wall around the corporate office, bringing some life to the inside of the place, finishing the apartment (in front of the corporate office), the tunnel to Bone Island, and the maxed-out tower on Bone Island's middle level. After all this is complete, I'll start building in a location I found last week, not that far to the west of the corporate office:
Not sure what Dakar's planning on doing to sek here...
Saying hello to sek:

Do jack o'lanterns stay lit under water?
Do notes sound under water? (does water count as taking up the space over the note... or a plate on a note...
Another experiment coming in the foyer. Will demolish mini-choochoo.

Well if torches block notes that i'd bet pressure plates do too. Water source block directly over the note i'd guess yes, but water falling onto the block i'm curious about. I'll try jack o'lantern under water. My attempt at a mobivator needs work too.

So this sky dimension won't react in any way to the land below? I guess I should write it as "below." Seems cool, but not that cool.
Last night I logged on, realized I didn't feel like spending an hour building up resources, and abruptly signed back off. I don't think I'm getting tired of the game just yet -- probably just an off night.

I think a small sabbatical might be the order.
I really despise that my lands are part crappy desert biome (the kind with that shitty brown grass mixed with sand). I came to the conclusion last night that I'm better off just removing the sand right up against my wall (which had already been terraformed to a great degree – else the insides of my courtyard would be part sand), and replacing it with dirt.
This has something to do with my idea of a community project, as I'd like a desert valley for us to build in, but that doesn't really exist, which means I'll probably being doing some other converting of dirt to sand later down the line of my road (which is nearing the end until I polish off my plans for the next stage).
It's just a lot of grunt work.

What if we gathered materials and set off for distant lands in order to build a more organized community in a more interesting area of the map? We'd leave torches along the way and eventually build a rail. Part of my problem, especially after having spent some time the last several days looking at different seeds, is that the terrain around us is fairly boring.
Roads organized around established plots of land with a city wall to keep out mobs, communal mines, lakes, etc.
Part of what made me want this is watching videos like this: Minecraft Multiplayer Tour

I'm sure it was very entertaining to watch me repeatedly drown in my failed water trap. For extra fun there were all the spiders to play with.
My house is about done, need some more wool and books. I'm sure the building inspector could find a spot or two of cobble peeking out though. The walkway from dakar to bones is reinforced.
Dakar, you've got a nice little courtyard there. Lots of friendly sheep. Is there going to be a rail to nowhere in the middle of that big boulevard?
Blaze, how's the mobivator going?
I'm up for putting all my little projects on hold and exploring. Getting a little cooped up.

Eh, the far off-lands thing kills me. When was the last time you visited McBlobicus Lodge?

One of my ideas was centered around creating a community town (with roads, square, etc.) where everybody got a parcel of similar land, and some guidelines, but I didn't have the time to iron out the details.

Jesus no. If anything, I may create a subway, should it become necessary.
BTW, if you need sand/sand stone, feel free to mine the small section between the dirt road and your place. I can't live with just removing a layer of sand and replacing it with dirt, I have to mine the resources, so any help i can get it appreciated (as you always seem in need).

I visit at least every other day, but don't always go inside. I like checking out the surrounding area.

That's what I'm wanting.
Something like 25x25 plots, 2-block-wide roads, street lights, city ordinances, public pools, parks, city hall, etc.

Blah. Here's another example, when was the last time someone visited Blaze's pyramid.
I like the feeling of extending civilization outward from out Bay. First, it allows us to see it from our doorstep or nearby. It's nice that I can work on my road, grab something from the tower and discover andi has built the 5th avenue apple store on her roof.
Second, it means that as you travel to other place, you pass through these places, a reminder.

You gotta build the outline first – layout the roads, plots, parks, lighting, etc. before letting anyone move in.
Then you need to consider, should people be able to build up infinitely into the sky? Right up to their property line? Can they have trees that hang over it? Do you want to outlaw any materials (wood - flammable, cobblestone - ugly, bright cotton - distracting) for construction of the outer structures.
The few multi towns I've seen do this. It adds a cohesion and makes it a community in design as well as concept.
