Guys: I have a 2.6 MBP, so the G4 isn't my default computer. I like the 4:3 aspect ratio better, matte screen, and non-chiclet keys. This is and probably will always be my most favorite mac ever.

I still have a 12" PowerBook G4. It's a nice comfy computer. I rarely use it anymore, but if I could get a new battery, I'd take it to class instead of my 15" MacBook Pro.

Overall, how impressed are you with the speed of that hard disk?
I'm thinking of pulling the trigger and ordering one for this Dell work machine of mine.

I hate to be so honest, but I cannot really tell so far.
I think that it is either because I do not use the computer much or it is because I have to compare it directly to my iMac 27.
For the money, I do not think that you can go wrong.
I love the price and it was not too bad putting it in.
I will run some tests and let you know what I come up with soon.

Yeah, it's not terribly expensive, but it's double the price of other 500GB drives. (I think)

How much was the desk? I checked the site, and the desk was $47 and the legs seemed to be priced at $15 each!?!? does that seem right?

I liked the silver keys of the previous MBP. I liked the look and feel better. Mine was stolen or I'd still have it. :-(

That's the only thing I'm not really over joyed with about my MacBook is the chicklet keys. I'd love to have those older silver ones. Those are great keyboards.

I found them useful enough, and they didn't have the light bleed-thru of the current gen keyboard.

It was awesome, but it was completely useless in intermediate lighting. Grey backlight on half-lit silver keys simply didn't work well.

How is the "bleed-thru" around the keys problematic for you? I just think it's pretty.

This was right after I finished the new office in the basement... it's a lot messier now...!

Dell 30" monitor with DVI KVM switch. MacPro behind the desk (you can just see the bottom of it underneath the desk to the right of the shelf unit). KVM hooked up to the MacPro, a MBP, and a Lenovo W500. Samsung 63" LCD with Matrix 4x4 switch with input from Cable, Roku, a MacMini Server, and the MacPro. Bose Companion 5 wired into the KVM so it serves up audio from all of the machines. Got audio routed in the ceiling too but that's wired into the home theater and is the "B" connection from the media room.

And, I know. It's a heck of a setup - took me twenty years to finally get everything the way I liked it.

Not really a setup, because my Ti hasn´t a defined workspace. The left one, a 667 MHz Ti serves as a third backup drive since it´s ATI graphic chip went south. When i have the time on my hand i plan to reflow/resolder the board. The right one is a 867 MHz Ti which eventually will be upgraded with an 1 GHz board.

It always irked me because the brightness tended to be uneven.
I have plenty of more important things to do, if only I could bring myself to do them....

Uneven across the keyboard, or uneven in response to ambient light? My first gen MBP's keyboard is still quite even left-to-right and top-to-bottom, but it has never tracked ambient light very smoothly, which I can deal with.

Just picked up a 17" MacBook Pro, I love it. 2.5i7/8GB/512

Amazing machine, my first 17". I thought it was going to be way too big, but it's the perfect size. Resolution is amazing and makes anything else look out of date, I mean: 1920x1200 on a 17" is nicely dense enough for me, still in love with 16:10. Have a hard time using 16:9, so this is better for me than the Airs. The thunderbolt is too cool! I use my Dad's dual 27"ers with a Promise RAID. It's driving my 30" right now through the MiniDP to Dual-Link DVI box, the 5870 in my MacPro's fan died and I'm sure there are many blown caps. Get to lug it to the Apple store!

A little Kismet action going on at school.

Using my Dad's new 15" with his thunderbolt.

I'm not surprised. The forums seems to have slowed down quite a bit.

Also Apple's laptops have looked essentially the same since the Clinton administration, so maybe it's not so fun to take new pictures of them anymore.
The new Mac Pro has up to 30 MB of cache inside the processor itself. That's more than the HD in my first Mac. Somehow I'm still running out of space.

True. I've always been more interested in the desktop layout around it, and how people organize their workstations. This is often more difficult with a notebook since all the cables at some point need to hit your desk. The lack of an Apple produced docking station doesn't help.
