My ex's sister had the bizarre experience of getting into an accident with a dumpster that fell off a truck bed and into the highway. It totaled her neon and she had some brief neck problems (AFAIK). Her parents response? Buy her an SUV so she'd be safer the next time she got into an accident with a dumpster that's in the middle of the highway...

I roll a stock 00 golf. I lust for the R32 as well, probably the MK IV more than the new one. Although I do like the new GTIs...

My wife and I purchased this from a relative's estate a couple months ago.
1998 Mercury Grand Marquis LS with 49k miles: leather seating surfaces, rear air suspension, digital dash, wimpy color.
The top gear in the automatic is so tall that I get 26 mpg in my mostly highway driving. It's been awhile (like 22 years) since I've driven daily a RWD car and never one with 260 lb·ft of torque--nice feeling when it hunkers down when given gas.
When my small department goes out for lunch, all want to ride (or be chauffeured) in it. My wife calls it the Silk Machine.

You should black out your front grill and rear reflectors and add a bike rack on the top with a couple reflectors, then freak people out on the highway at night.

Awesome car, like taking a drive in a Lay-Z-Boy recliner.
It has one of those silly large horizontal speedometers doesn't it?

I'm afraid it has an LED speedo / trip computer. I believe the analog speedo is round in this year, but horizontal in the 92-97.
I've become a fan of the Ford Panther platform (Crown Vic/Marquis/Town Car) and may buy a used Town Car in a few years--or a used Interceptor.

My cars since 1998...I was born in 1982
1. 1998 to 1998 - Fiat convertible (don't know the year) that was like this body style but was a bondo car. (not my pic)
2. 1998 to 2000 - 1989 Blue Mitsubishi Mirage. (not my pic)
3. 1998 to 1998 - 1978 Mercedes 240 or something like that. It only ran a few times. (not my pic)
4. 2000 to 2001 - 1982 Oldsmobile Diesel Tornado. Great car! (not my pic)
5. 2001 to 2002 - 1992 Dodge Stealth RT/TT. Ended up trading for car 7 (not my pic)
6. 2001 to 2002 - 1998 Oldsmobile Bravada. Car 6 had so many problems I bought this while it was being fixed. (not my pic)
7. 2002 to 2003 - 1997 Mitsubishi Eclipse Spyder GS-T. My favorite "Car" to date.
Got married in 2003 and need a better car for my traveling job. So we bought car 8.
8. 2003 to 2007 - 2001 Pontiac Grand Prix GTP. Second best "car" I have owned.
8.5. 2003 to 2006 - 1994 Saturn SL2. My wife's car. (not my pic)
Car 9 was a truck for work when we moved back to Iowa. Here is a picture at the end of its life.
9. 2006 to 2007 - 2000 Chevy Silverado 2500.
When we had the our second child we bought car 10
10. 2007 to 2007 - 2005 Dodge Grand Caravan SXT.
In 2007 our family was heading to the state fair, in my truck thankfully, (car #9) when a guy pulled out in front of us while we were going 60MPH. So I bought car #11.
11. 2007 to present - 2001 Chevy Silverado Diesel 2500HD Crew Cab.
Because of the accident we decided to get rid of the minivan (car #10) and buy car #12.
12. 2007 to present - 2002 GMC Yukon XL Denali.
So these are all of the cars that I have owned. I'm kind of a car nut....Its crazy looking back to see what I have owned and I am only 26.

It's great that GM wasn't afraid to hide the understeer (car #6).
