Today I bought a pair of Bang & Olufsen A8 earbuds.
- mini amplifiers built into each earbud
- poly diaphram with rubber surround unlike other brands with metal diaphrams that sound tinny.
- crystal clear vocals and high frequencies
- crafted from anodised aluminium
They are amazing earbuds and so comfortable to wear you almost forget they're there.
You can check them out at the Bang & Olufsen website

Having owned both the B&Os and Shure e3cs, I can say that they both have their ups and downs. The A8s are great, sound very good, look excellent and are built very well. However, they are pretty open and if you are walking around in a city or noisy environment, you might find that you can't hear the music that well.
As for the Shures they are pretty expensive, but comfortable, and are really clear. The one problem, however, with all in ear phones is that Bass is very lacking, but you do get used to that over time.
Hope this helps anyone making a decision.
David

I too own a pair of B&O A8 headphones, and find them great, miles and miles better than the awful white iPod ones, and I always had trouble with the standard in ear headphones, as they always fell out of my ears, but the A8's hook round your ears, preventing this.
Sure, they may be a tad expensive, but fine if your dad is a B&O dealer hehe

I find in-ear (canal) 'phones to be much better for bass.
