North Dakota (AP) -- Saje Beard's half-hour commute to class is the envy of her four classmates at a one-room schoolhouse just south of here.
Most mornings, the third-grader makes the trek on Ruth the mule.

Just one more reason I want to live in North Dakota. Yes, I am serious.

When I was a young'n growing up in the motherland, tons of my classmates got to school riding horses, so I don't find it unsual at all. Go Ruth!

I hope they don't have a pooper-scooper law there.

I like North Dakota. I've always lived in a city and have stayed far from rural NoDak, but I've always found it a pleasant place to live.

When I was a kid we had to carry our donkey, up hill, both ways, in the snow! We were so poor we had to do our homework on the back of a shovel with coal from last night's fire!

I'm originally from a city of 180000 in Saskatchewan.
The North Dakotans use to do day trips to come to visit us, cuz it was more metropolitan.
