I purchased the ear buds this weekend and the sound is not very good. So if anyone is looking for a new set of headphones, I reccomend that you stay away from apples new ear bud headphones.

Yep. The in ear kind. I have a pair of Sony headphones that are $10 and sound better.

The best bang for your buck ear kind headphones are made by Koss. They are pretty much in every store I can think of so they shouldn't be that hard to find. About 20 bucks for a pair.

They sound better because they work more like ear plugs. They are cushy and inflate after being crushed so when you put them in your ear they block out a lot of sound and the bass just sounds great. Bass is the biggest problem with most in ear headphones and Koss tackles this problem really well.

The clue is to seal your ear perfectly. Without a complete seal the sound is less than perfect. Try a larger plug or putting them upside down in your ear.

I just returned my in-ear headphones today.
I tryed to put them upside down, normally - everything I could think about, but they kept falling out, even with the largest plugs on.

Naa, I'll just stick to thouse that came with my iPod...

edit; maybe this thread can help you...

I got the Sony MDR-EX71 about a month ago and I think they're great. They come with 3 different sizes of silicone ear plugs that kill outside noise. Great sound out of my iPod and the bass is the best I've heard for cheaper headphones.

The only downfalls: the cord is longer for the right ear (wrap around the head style) and there is an extension cord that you have to use if you want to put your iPod in your pants pocket.

They're cheaper on eBay - I got mine for $34.
