For those of you who have received their PowerMac from Apple: How close was the expected shipping date to the actual date it shipped?

Slight tangential rant (rantgent?)

Pondering whether I want to wait until the 30" displays show up at the Apple store or just order ir onine. So I checked est. delivery dates if I ordered online. 30" hd cinema display: est. delivery August. GeForce 6800: est. delivery date late august.

So I can get my 30" display maybe a few weeks before the video card I need to run the display? God knows you wouldn't want to have a suitable supply of 6800 to go with every 30" display ordered. Not like PowerMac users are just going to order the 30" display and take a pass on the video card required to drive the damn thing. Pretty much in for both of 'em, the way I see it. It's like shipping the display in august and the powerbrick for the display in late august.

Nifty timing nipple heads.

Rantgent over.
Curse your sudden but inevitable betrayal!

I understand that GeForce 6800 Ultras are hard to get in the x86 world even now, so I don't think their availability for the Mac is something Apple can totally control.

All the same, it would be nice if my dual 2.5's ship date had an emphasis on the "before" part, rather than the "on" part...

I've never ordered a machine that wasn't officially shipping yet, but they're pretty quick with stock. I ordered my Powebook on a Saturday at 3:00 PM CST and had it delivered on Monday, despite an estimated 3-5 bus. day window.

New G5 arrived 5 days before "expected shipping date" ... unfortunately, due to personal circumstances it had to go straight back ... that's life!

My Airport Express shipped from Taiwan yesterday (FEDEX tracking) but sits one (so far) day in Indianapolis for a 'regulatory agency clearance delay'.

Hmmm.

That means it is in U.S. Customs waiting for inspection. The delay means it's waiting for a lazyass government employee to get off his extra long coffee break and do his job.

Well I ordered a Dual 2.5 and an Airport Express on June 30 and I just found out 5 mins ago that my airport express was delayed from 7/15 to 8/13. My Dual 2.5 is suppose to ship on or before 7/30. I am not holding my breath.

Looks like it went out after midnight on the day they said it would ship. A G5 2.0 with a 9600 video card and Airport card added.

Delivery was promised on July 15 and AE arrived yesterday, July 20. I'm happy, though I haven't played with it yet.

Will let you know.
