I have a PowerMac G4 500 (Sawtooth). I need to install a DVD-RW. I want to take out the CD/ DVD-RAM and replace it with a DVD-RW drive. Can I replace the built-in Zip drive and replace it with a high capacity hard disk? In other words, can I install two drives?

Is the Pioneer DVR-104 the best DVD-RW drive to look at? Or should I look at a different manufacturer ?

Also, where can I get a replacement bevel for the G4 once I replace the drive(s)?

I had a dual-450 Sawtooth and put the Pioneer drive in with no trouble at all. Since this is the drive Apple ships, the OS recognized it right away and I was burning like a fool in no time. The only difference is that the DVD-RW is slightly longer than the stock optical drive so you have to adjust the carrier, but that's a snap. See instructions here.

If you want to add a second hard drive, tho, do you need to replace the Zip? There is a carrier and IDE cable in the back for a second drive, right on top of the stock drive. That's what I did.
