I can't login to my OS X user accounts anymore, none of them. I know I am typing the names and passwords correctly because the login panel doesn't "shake its head". Also the panel disappears and the aqua-blue/graphite background shows up. This is usually when the Finder loads, but instead of loading, I get booted back to the login panel. I've tried to admin accounts and the root account, nothing works.

Here's what I am running:
OS X 10.2.3 on PowerBook G4 Rev. B

Here's what I've done so far (to no success):
Disk First Aid repairs from my OS 9 partition AND from the Jaguar CD
fsck -y @ the Cmd-S during startup

Does anyone have a clue? I can't find anything in the forum archives or even on Google.

You could see whether your console is reporting anything interesting. Do the cmd-s trick to start up in single user mode. Do the standard fsck -y & mount -uw / . Don't type exit, so you're still in the console. Type the following:
Code:
cd /var/tmp/ cat console.log | less
This will show you the console from the last attempted log in. Spacebar or arrow keys to advance the display.
Geekspiff - generating spiffdiddlee software since before you began paying attention.
