I don't own one, and unless my work gets me one, I probably won't have one. But I'm still curious if the heat dissipation is any better with the unibody MacBook Pros versus the original. Does the thicker case keep the outside cooler?
My MacBook Pro will get pretty warm I'm playing games on it. Some might say uncomfortably hot.
I've gotten a chance to play with a unibody MacBook and I have to say, missing Firewire port aside, I really like it. It's a very sturdy laptop. My MacBook Pro seems to dent if you just look at it wrong. Thew new unibody seems really solid.

Mine seems to stay pretty cool. I haven't really had it doing super intensive stuff, but I've played Call of Duty 4 for a couple hours and it stayed fairly cool. The fans do come on pretty high sometimes, but the case itself stays comfortable. And I agree, they do feel really solid. Love it.

The 2.53 GHz UB is definitely less hot under max load than the 2.4 GHz pre-UB. And that's using the 9600M in the UB.

the 2.4 ghz unibody is definitely much cooler than the Macbook air. Stays at 35C idle, reasching around 65 in load.
The 2.4 GHz has a lower wattage CPU than the 2.53 GHz, so that might make a difference as well.
Also disabling the discrete graphics card helps quite a bit, as when you are not playing games, the laptop uses less power and runs cooler.

Has that really been confirmed? Do we know the 2.53 GHz UB MBP used a T9400 (35W) and not a P9500 (25W)?
And what about its 2.66 GHz successor? T9550 or P9600?

I have the 2.8ghz MBP and even with the 9600M on it's still much cooler than the old MBPs.

Mine runs pretty decently. I average around 45c (using the 9400m) It will bump up to the 50s and 60s when I start doing strenuous stuff but overall its pretty cool. I also use smcFanControl to manually keep my MBP cooler by bumping up the fan speed a tad
