Maybe it's just me, but is there anyone else somewhat offended by the "Shoot the Terrorist, Win an iPod" banner ads on the MacNN website?

It's about ads, an inappropriate one. Not the Gaza strip. Get a grip.

Links to the following shady site:

"Hit the Bear" ... fine.
"Shoot the Criminal" ... borderline.
"Shoot the Terrorist" ... appalling.
Baninate!

I am just curious why you feel shooting a innocent bear is better than shooting criminals and murderers?
I think this is a case of what I was told was called being "Over-sensitive"
It's just a game. They aren't actually ASKING you to do away with these slimy villains.

It's not the relative guilt or innocence of the target that's the issue for me. Yes, terrorists and criminals are bad. If I were appalled at an arcade game that has me shooting, say, cartoons of Hitler and Tojo, that wouldn't mean I sympathize with them.
Actually, I usually don't object to shoot-'em-up video games. If someone put out a realistic video game where you're a U.S. special forces soldier going after Al-Qaida fighters, that wouldn't bother me because at least then it has some kind of respect, on some level, for the real-life scenario that real soldiers find themselves in.
What bothers me is the use of a serious scenario (terrorism) as cheap cartoony entertainment for a cheesy spam-merchant "giveaway" that's probably a fraud anyway.
As to the bear: Hunting an animal is basically a game even in real life. So no, that one doesn't bother me, any more than Elmer Fudd singing "Kill the wabbit" traumatized me as a child. (Which is to say, not at all.) But if Elmer sang "Kill the Kraut" while pursuing a cartoon German WWII soldier, it would have been more troubling.
