An iOS version of Google Now has already been submitted to the App Store, Google chairman Eric Schmidt has hinted at the company's Big Tent Summit. He was asked when Now might appear on iOS during an interview. "You'll need to discuss that with Apple," he said. "Apple has a policy of approving or disapproving apps that are submitted into its store, and some of the apps we make they approve, and some of them they don't."

A promotional video for Now on iOS was leaked earlier this month, indicating that it would be built into the company's existing Google Search app. With Android 4.1 or later, Now is built into the OS itself; the function attempts to predict data a person will want to see -- such as weather, flight, or traffic information -- before they actually search for it. The Android version displays this content in the form of easily-accessed cards or notifications, but an iOS app would presumably require people to launch the Search app and/or receive simplified push notifications.

Schmidt separately remarked that he has both an iPad mini and a full-sized iPad, but that he feels the Mini is too small, and he gravitates towards Android tablets. "But you know, frankly, if you take a look at the Samsung 10-inch tablet, [and] the Nexus 10," he said, "more apps, more scalable, more secure."

If Android tablets are better, why on earth is Google's chairman using iPads?

because his trailing comments are substantially more applicable to the iPad and iPad mini. Kind of like mentioning the Google partner's competitor,and then lapsing back into praise about the iPad. The insert of Samsung's product was just a brain fart, because he realized he was praising the iPad. After that passed, he went back to complimenting the iPad, but the ordering implied that he was suggesting a magical improvement in the Android situation.

Maybe he was talking about Google's situation with Android tablets. Your information is more secured to Google, and their ability to collect is more scalable because they put more of their apps on by default. With Apple's attempts to increase user privacy, it's got to be a real pain for Google to come up with inventive ways to siphon data.

Whatever...the reason he has the iPad is for those times when he can't get an app he needs on Android. OBTW, check w/ YOUR people...Google NOW has not been submitted to Apple yet, Schmidtty.
