I just set up a new email account I was wondering if anybody knows of a application or website that will allow you to transfer emails from the old account into the new account?

Only thing I can think of is if they support imap. You could use imap to download to a local client (entourage, mail, etc.), then upload to the new account's exact folders (inbox, sent, etc.)

I believe you can set up mail-filter.com to do this fairly simply, and for free. You will be limited to 20Mgs a month, however.

But that does not direct gmail mail to a new gmail account.

That's the problem with using a service like GMail, or Yahoo, it isn't always easy to get to your data when you want to move to something else.

Start Googling "gmail export" and see what you come up with. If you can't get your hands on your data, there is little we can do to help.

I think you can accomplish what you want this way:
_ Set your old gmail account POP settings to POP all mail.
_ Create a filter in mail-filter to fetch mail from your old gmail account.
_ Have this filter then deliver the mail to your new gmail account.

You can also set the old gmail account to automatically forward any new mail to your new account.

Under the help menu read the section about backup. I believe if you backup then you can access the emails from the backup file. I now also store my emails on the .mac site. Harry
