Nobody knows when the new MacPro's will be released. However, we can speculate on the new hardware that will be built into the machine.
I predict a modest upgrade:
Two 3.2GHz Quad-Core Intel processors
2 Gigs standard memory running @ 1GHz
ATI Radeon graphics card
Blu-Ray DVD-R (4x)

CPU prediction = duh, no kidding.
ATI Radeon... um, why would they, other than inertia, do that?
Blue Ray = duh, no kidding.

As an option? Sure, but the base config should be a pair of 2.5-2.83Ghz quads.

Except the new chipsets only support 800Mhz FB-DIMMs... and even those are hard to find. Apple may have to ship with 667Mhz FB-DIMMs.

I certainly hope not; nVidia 8800GT has better performance and better performance/price.

Actually, the new mid-range performance/price king is the Radeon 3870. It also runs significantly cooler than the 8800gt.
We also don't need another Mac Pro speculation thread.

It's a pity you had to lock this one, Lat. I'd have been interested in hearing about a new PowerMacPro. But I agree, all they're talking about is a new MacPro, which isn't so exotic, and belongs in the other thread.
