An article just popped up on Digg, saying that after the firmware update the MacBook's fans run all the time at low speeds. I have not seen this behavior on my machine after the update, and was wondering if anyone else had.

All glory to the hypnotoad.

Don't think so, but I'm in a fairly noisy room at the moment.

yes, but it is certainly better now that it runs cooler. you hardly notice them, they are on the lowest speed possible

Might be - its so quiet I can't be certain....but it does feel like a gentle air current is blowing out the back. I do know the CPU takes a lot longer to hit its normal operating temperature, which is consistent with the fans being on at low speed right from the start.

If iI put my ear to the blacbook, I can hear a low hum which I will assume is the fan. I am A OK with this as long as the heat stays down!!!! YOWZA

That sounds more like it could be the hard drive.

But I can also feel air coming out the back vent. I just awoke the book from sleep and it is running at 43 degrees C.

The answer to this question will strongly depend on your ambient temp.

My MB is sitting on a desk and idling while AC keeps the temp at a constant 68F/20C. The fan is not audible at all.
