I have a 3G 10Gb iPod that turns itself on by itself when it should be off. Has anyone else had this problem? It seems to work fine otherwise. Have I reset it yet? No, but that might be the next logical course of action.
It's been doing this for about a year now btw.

There is a thing that happens, and has been talked about before, that the iPod comes on and switches on the backlight for a few seconds at midnight, something to do with the clock settings.

It'll be much easier if you just comply.

Yeah. Saw it. Forgot. I think it impacts battery life; agree? disagree?
Thanks for reminder

I haven't had any such problem with my 3G. Perhaps it's because I have a Contour Showcase on it, which makes it a little more difficult to activate the buttons. Try turning it off and putting on hold; if it still turns on spontaneously I won't know what to say.

I noticed that my iPod (4G) recently started turning itself on by itself around midnight as well, and was never turning itself back off.
Turned out the problem was that I was checking the clock on an airplane recently (red-eye), andn had clicked past the clock a couple of times, which enables the alarm clock (but doesn't set its time, which defaults to midnight). This is very easy to do accidentally.
So, ever since then, the iPod goes on at midnight and starts playing, whether it is on hold or not.
Very easy to fix: just go to clock menu and turn off the alarm.

Could it be the alarm? I noticed my alarm was active and I had the same problem with the iPod turning on as well. I just shut it off now so I'm not sure if that is the fix but its worth a try
