Has anyone gotten the site at http://www.apple.com/macosx/uptodate/ to work? I just bought a new MBP (refurb, from Apple online) and it says my serial isn't recognized.

It's also frustrating that Apple doesn't just tell me that I qualify, but I am (in general) hoping this is because they're not focusing on getting customers 10.6 as it's not out yet.

The only reason I have been trying is because of the 90 day window on registering a computer (meaning I'd rather do it now than forget later).

If you think your under the requirements for the upgrade and the site does not seem to take your SN#, give apple care a call and ask. They should be able to tell you right away.

I ordered mine on July 29 and I didn't have to enter a serial number. Just clicked a link and it asked for my Apple ID, which I'm guessing it used that in order to determine if I was eligible.

What link did you click? On Apple.com?

The Apple Store (U.S.)

Doing that now, after doing my preorder, asks me to fill out system info but that's what I used before and it worked.

Weird, that's where I've been trying, and it says it can't find my serial. Since I bought it from the Apple Online store and it is registered to them w/ my Apple ID seems like this should be pretty seamless... Unfortunate.

That is weird. The worst you can do is call AppleCare/The Apple Store and see if they can help you with it.
