That just sounds like more projection.

She could rescue a dozen blind kids and a basket of kittens from a burning building and you lot would likely claim the fire was caused by one of her dodgy email servers.
I have plenty of more important things to do, if only I could bring myself to do them....

Has anyone in the press asked her what is the cause of these coughing fits?

Looks like the political campaigns are well underway...

Hillary Clinton:

- coughs too much
- said some things in a video

there is so much valid and substantive stuff to dredge up with her, can we skip the lame stuff along the lines of what many came up with for Obama? Are you already tired of her emails and Benghazi?

The birther thing originated with Hillary people.

Compare Hillary's secret Muslim statements with McCain's. Only one took the opportunity to flat out deny it.

Hillary having numerous coughing fits doesn't concern you? There is also the issue with her needing to again wear the anti double vision glasses she was wearing after she suffered a concussion in 2012. That "was" due to a blood clot in her head.

Someone is going to jail for the email issues. I don't believe Hillary has her own Susan McDougal to take the fall. The fact that the tech who set up the server has been granted immunity is not a good sign.

Benghazi: Hillary lied because people died and now she's calling the families of those who died liars. That 3AM call came, and it went to voice mail.

This line of reasoning would mean more coming from someone that wasn't looking for things to hate about her.

What does it have to do with her ability to lead?

It's winter, she talks for 16 hours a day; there are plenty of reasons to cough. I'm with besson on this one, stick to the valid complaints against her, there are plenty.

I don't think it's the best argument against Hillary, but it's not like what Chongo was getting at is some big mystery, either.

She avoided all those early debates because she's had bronchitis and is a heavy pot smoker.

No. They'd never get nominated because the media would be on them like stink on sh** about it.
If you're someone the press doesn't like they will use it. McGovern's VP choice Tom Eagleton was forced to drop out after the press revealed he had secretly received shock treatment for his until then secret bouts of depression. The media wasn't as much in the tank for the left like they are now.

Will you vote for the GOP candidate should Hillary be the nominee and is diagnosed with say throat cancer prior to the election? The odds are if Hillary does have a serious medical issue we may never know until it's too late. The media would handle that information like it does anything else that could negatively affect her campaign by burying it.

I heard a clip from the debate, Bernie sounded like he was getting laryngitis too. All the candidates are talking a lot, travelling, getting worn down. But they can't let it show it bothers them.

Until she's hospitalized or her doctor announces she has lung cancer, I wouldn't consider it a factor in the vote. It's a minor symptom.

Edit for Chongo as we cross-posted: With the scrutiny the candidates are under, and the paranoia of the populace, I do not see how she could cover up something like cancer. A cough is not cancer. At worst it's bronchitis.

It's silly the things that have gotten candidates booted from the race, whether it's a loud scream of victory or appearing to cry in defense of your wife's honor. People exaggerate them and give them more importance than policy issues or intelligence.

With Obama the complaints were that he's not experienced enough, but some also claimed that he had enough of a record to make him a socialist. It was a mix of largely incoherent arguments and making mountains into molehills (flag pins, pastors, madrassas, etc.) You can easily insert your snide comments about the results of his presidency here, but I hope we can agree at this point that a lot of the hysterics during this campaign were completely lame, and disappeared off of radars very quickly once we had actual policy related stuff to wring our hands over (the ACA, etc.)

With Hillary, there are decades and decades of records to bring up. Bill Clinton's record will probably be in play too. So, there is NO excuse to cling to lame ass stuff like coughing or whatever else. In this year alone you have your Benghazi and email server thing, which I'm sure we haven't heard the last of, but at least is arguably a little more important than the stupid long list of crap that was drudged up for Obama.

I'm begging you, it's early, let's refrain from being too lame too soon.

Chongo: do you plan to vote for Donald Trump or Hillary Clinton?

I'm just trying to figure out whether this bringing up dirt on Hillary is general vigilance, or an attempt to support a mindset surrounding the justification of voting for Trump.

Neither answer would surprise me, I'm just interested in where some of you are at, because this election feels different somehow. With John McCain and Mitt Romney it was a case of maybe not being crazy excited about either, but thinking that supporting them would be the better way to validate political ideology with the only downside being that ideology providing to be flawed, whereas supporting Trump there is a risk of the country being put in an all-out cultural war. This existed under Obama too, but this time around it seems far more intense.

Or is it just me?

It looks like the choice will be evil and far greater evil. As you realized, if you adhere to the USCCB's voters guide, voting for Hillary or Bernie is not an option. Trump, at this point, looks like the lesser evil.
I don't like Trump because he's in it for Trump. I can only hope that Rubio and Kasich drop out and pledges their delegates to Cruz. That will put Cruz into the lead.

It looks like Trump has got Soros in overdrive.

I certainly wasn't expecting you to go back and check the record.

Ultimately, just asking in case you had something specific in mind.

I'm certainly on the more idealist end of the voting scale. For instance, you'll never catch me spoiler voting, or voting for gridlock.

The cynic in me would suggest that he wait to 2020 to influence the legislatures that will do the next redistricting. Dems got hit hard by the GOP wins in 2010.

That cynic also considers whether the GOP is throwing this (presidential) election to be able to galvanize the troops against HRC in 2020 for the same reason, but that may be a step too far.

That's Rogers Park.

It's a hard neighborhood to quantify. It's middle class and ghetto. Hipsters and Jesuit university students. Indians and Pakistanis.

It's cheap (relatively speaking) because it's so far north, but still has good access to transportation downtown, and is lakefront with lots of awesome architecture.

My mom used to live there, and it's where I'd go to do the Rocky Horror deal when I was in college.

Edit: and right across the border in Evanston was the place where they'd sell alcohol to us when we were underage.

I'll disagree on both counts. Part of Bernie's platform is that change can't happen unless you vote in mid-terms. For him to abandon that would be disingenuous and counter-productive. 2020 is a presidential year. The turn-out will be good. If anything makes it an uphill battle for Dems its the trying to get a 4th consecutive term in the White House. It may well be historical turn-out.

Regarding the GOP: Political parties don't think long term (See: Demographics), particularly in regards to higher level positions. Already you've seen establishment endorsements of Trump and one of Ted Cruz's most outspoken opponents just endorsed him (Lindsay Graham). It's illustrated easily in how the GOP welcomed the tea party with open arms only to find themselves on the receiving end of their ire half a decade later. They've also been dealt the worse hand in having to choose between Cruz or Trump (though I'm sure their exploring ways to hand it to someone else at the convention). And even if they hate Trump, I think many will back him because they hate Hillary more. And because it's their only hope down-ticket.
