Cracked power adapter port, can't charge iBook now--help!

Have had numerous issues with iBook G4 power charging but this may be the last straw.
A small piece of the plastic cracked off at the power adapter port. Thus, the plastic around the port is no longer perfectly round. This is enough to keep the power adapter from sitting square in the port. Therefore, it doesn't make a good connection, and the iBook doesn't charge.
A similar incident happened a year ago, when a bit of plastic just inside the headphone port also cracked off. Therefore, that port was no longer perfectly round, and the headphone jack would not sit right in it, causing intermittent loss of signal.
I can live without the headphones, but the iBook is useless if it can't be powered in some fashion. Why do they make the casing so cheap? I have a ThinkPad that I use for work that is rock solid. More important, is there a way to repair this for something less than the cost of a replacement computer? Any jury-rigged solutions that might work?

You start out your first sentence with "Numerous issues with your iBook charging.
What were they?
A small piece of plastic cracked off? That doesn't just happen. Did you drop it?
Again, the headphone port thing. That doesn't just happen either. I think there is a bit of computer abuse going on here... not the other way around.
Just my opinion.

Okay, other issues with power:
First battery died a month after the iBook was out of warranty.
Two bent charger thingees on the original Apple charger. Solved by buyng an iGo charger. When the iGo's charger tips are damaged, they can be replaced for a few bucks.
Yes, there is some computer abuse going on, primarily by my 16 year old son. But I accidentally broke one of the charger units myself. The problem is the design. The charger is flimsy. Others have complained about cracks in the case. I love my iMac and would love the iBook except for these issues. I have to use a ThinkPad for work. I don't like the operating system, but the ThinkPad is sturdy. There is no way that the ThinkPad charger would bend or break like the iBook's does.
My question remains: is there a way to repair this? Is there a part that can be replaced?

link work when I tested it last time but anyway if you cant see the reviews go to google and type in "apple store ibook charger revies" and you will see a few links down people saying "fix this design" or go to store.apple.com and look up the charger and after the description it gives people who rated the product and most everyone has had a problem with the design

My wife had a good idea. She wrapped some thick tape around the outside of the metal cylinder that surrounds the central prong of the power adapter. That makes for a snugger fit of the adapter into the
adapter port, and it doesn't seem to interfere with the transfer of power. We'll see how it holds up.
