I'm not sure why when I'm in list view that size of a folder shows -- its really a pain in the ass. Wouldn't it be easy for it to work that way? Does anyone make an app that fixes that?

Sounds like you want a combination of list/column view. I suppose that would be doable, but it would seem cluttered to me. I prefer the column view: nice, clean, simple. But to answer your question, after a bit of searching, I come up empty. Maybe someone else has a suggestion...

woops i meant list view, i see that column view tells me that when i highlight it so that it shows file info in the column. I just think folders could be treated like files, i mean they have sizes too right?

When in list view in Finder, if you go to the View menu and select "Show View Options", and then check "Calculate all sizes", the sizes of the folders will be calculated for all of their contents.

Wow... I didn't know that. Awesome! That's always been one of my little "ugh!" but never bothered me to post anything.

Thanks JoeBruin!

A very useful and easy-to-use utility for viewing folder and file sizes is WhatSize.
