Im upgrading a coworker to a G5 and she currently is using an older UMAX scanner that is connected to an ULTRA 1301 scsi card.

Anyone tried this card in a G5?
its a 1.6 tower so it has regular PCI slots...
thanks

I'm pretty sure that was a PC-only card.

What is the manufacturer and full model name of the card? There was no common Mac PCI SCSI card that went by the 1301 designation.

What I do know is that very few SCSI cards work in G5s -- most SCSI cards want 5v, while the G5 uses 3.3v-only PCI slots. (Note that the PCI-X slots in higher G5s are fully backwards-compatible with any 3.3v-compatible PCI card.)

It's probably cheaper to buy a new scanner.

Adaptec email has confirmed that there is now native support for the 29160N, so you can use narrow scanner and/or LVD hdds. The 29160N was working in early (2003) G5s and there is 1.3b1 driver - no longer needed it seems.

I have 39160 in B&W and 29160 in Beige G3 (thanks to XPF 4.0b2). No G5 ;-(

Gregory,

I have the 29160n and a G5 w/Panther. I could use a clue..... What did you have to do to get it to work?
