New Mac Pros I said to be available any day now.

I do video editing and event videographer with effects/soon 3d work/photographer - photo touching with Photoshop/ Aperture.

I was simply going with the 2.66ghz/1gig/ATI x 1900/250Gig = $2700

Then sell my imac get about $1300 at which point buy a 24" along with four 1 gig sticks from crucial.

My gut tells me to wait for the refresh, but would I just be wasting time by dealing with a similar price system with lower specs (mainly video/higher ram) or getting a similar if not better configuration?

To me 8cores would be good, but a computer's value isn't just shear processing. The big question on the back of my mind is WHEN IS LEOPARD coming!! I would hate to get a new system and then shell out 130 bucks one month later. To me 8cores would be good, but a computer's value isn't just shear processing.

New Mac Pros should be out before Leopard.

The high-end will move higher (pair of quad 2.66Ghz Xeons, 32G RAM ceiling, video cards twice as fast; all available at retail today), so the current high-end and mid-range will move down in price.
