Drunk is fun. Tipsy is fun.
I don't get hangovers or throw up though, so...
Oh well, lucky me

Know when to say when because nobody likes taking care of someone that's sh!tfaced. It's too solbering and I would rather let someone suffer than ruin my fun.

my greatest accomplishment in life was learning to drink responsibly.
My college days are so embarassing; but after college, I began to curb my appetite for booze. It was a wonderful thing. I haven't been drunk in AGES.

- cause you'll wake up tied to a bed placed in the lobby of a college dorm

- cause you'll puke in your sleep and wake up not caring about the mess, and fall back to sleep

- cause you'll wake up on a sofa in an unfamiliar room

- cause it makes people do really stupid things, like hopping up and down Broadway singing "We're gonna have woast wabbit! We're gonna have woast wabbit!"

- cause it makes women/men appear more attractive

It will, trust me. But that hasn't stopped me yet.

Actually I'm with Icarus. I still get blotto every now and then, but my drinking has been fairly responsible the last few years. I did most of my drinking in high school and with that whole sort of right of passage thing out of the way, college proved to be fairly interesting. It was really weird to sit back and watch people drinking for the first time and making complete utter fools of themselves. Throwing up everywhere, passing out, etc.

And a few tips:
-Malt Liquor, Sysco, and gin (a handful of people can drink gin though) are pure EVIL in a bottle.
-Want to avoid or lessen morning after syndrome? Drink good alcohol. In other words, don't drink the above and don't drink the likes of Cuervo, Smirnov/Popov, Natural Light, etc. Quality booze won't give you a bad hangover, if one at all.

those with loaded guns, and those who dig. You dig."

everyone has their limits. a friend from the UK could drink a couple of pitchers and still manage to look after a puking friend.
i've been in that state a couple of times, it is fun while it lasts. but after that u get (vodka/tequila) burps and uh.. doesnt feel too good.

anyway, the 'REAL' reason to stop drinking would be so your grey cells dont get knocked out and your children dont turn out dumb.(assuming that your genes get mutated and lose some alleles)
also that temporary unusual 'high' gets your usual 'high' way below the level it was before you get slotched. well thats according to my experience and inferences.
but i've still decided im just gonna drink and not care about the consequences anymore. its not worth it anyway.

edit:the uneasiness in my stomach reminded me... too much alcohol destroys the inner protective tissue in your stomach, which is not a good thing.

A few reasons drinking is no laughing matter:
If you know anyone who has died at the hands of a drunk driver/or has lost a child because of a drunk/high driver.
If you know anyone who was habitually beat by a drunk parent.
If you cared for someone who couldn't stop drinking, and watched he and his family's lives deteriorate/fall apart.
You know someone who was raped at a party.

Alcohol is a legal drug - BE RESPONSIBLE!

You have a choice ... live sober and clean

Ironic. Reading this post while nursing a little bit of a hangover.

Actually, I'm a cheap bar date - half a glass of wine or a beer and I'm feeling it. I usually can't drink more than two without passing out. It's funny because in my younger years, I could drink and drink and drink - my tolerance was really high. What the heck happened? Adulthood? At least I save money now!

I'm had no intention of saying being an alcoholic was cool.

I follow a strict code (well, now that I'm out of college):
- One with dinner one before bed [during the work week].
- Fridays/Saturdays: Four drink limit...

I just fell off the wagon... Oh well...

I always hated the bar shark girls... They would see you pull out your fist full of bills and it was like throwing a slaughtered cow in the pool at Marine Land! Then there are the "I'm your new friend people" You buy a table of drinks (friends on their way) and there is always someone that tries to pick one up that doesn't know you! Ugh...

Good post VRL. I had a 16 year old nephew who was killed by a drunk driver. The driver was way over the limit, had her 4 year old kid in the car and swerved onto the shoulder and ran into my nephew...people just don't realize things like this until it happens to them.

Again, I never meant for this to be an issue of weather or not drunk driving is OS It's 100% NOT I live in a city where I never have to drive and in the worst case, would have to take a Taxi.

The topic is the regrets of drinking and not remembering the foolish things you do...

Uh, sorry, disagree with the anti-drinker people in here. There is a HUGE difference between getting plastered and passing out vs getting drunk and getting behind the wheels of an automobile....

One is fine, the other is sheer stupidity. No matter how much I drink, I'm not going to be responsible for killing anyone's nephew. Unless he's raping someone, then he dies.

Why, cuz you would rather be raping??

Come on Ca$h, you make it soo easy sometimes!

Ok, just messing with ya man.

Personally, I don't drink. I don't really care if someone gets shitfaced, but once they are behind the wheel, they cross the line.
When they risk my and others safety, it seriously makes me angry.

Nothing pisses me off more than somebody endangering innocent bystanders. Why the FU&K do they think they have the right to take that risk with other peoples lives?

If people want to get drunk, do it at home. Or with friends. I think it's just a bad idea to go get drunk someplace you have to drive to get to.

GRRRRRRRR...

Hey Ca$h, this is something that has been on my mind.

When you get drunk, how long does it take you to get the machine up and online? I've tried it myself, but it took about three times as long. Sure was headache inducing. How do you do it? AppleScript?

I've only been on the computer when drunk twice.
It went smoothly both times.
Only once was I at MacNN. God knows why
Oh well, I was able to control myself as usual.
Maybe I should try harder next time

I'm with you elzinat. Alcohol can take you places you swear you'll never go when you're sober. Loss of control means you lose control. (Hold that up to a mirror, then it makes sense.)
Ya gotta applaud those bunnies for sacrificing their hearing just so some guy in Yonkers can have better TV reception.

I feel as though a few of you think that we go out every weekend and get plastered, well that may be (grin), but that's one of the cool thing about life in the USA and being "Free" to do whatever it is you want to do. I think narcotics are bad, but if you really want to do them (other then the government try to stop you) go for it. No skin off my back, other then having a subway driver on crack missing your stop.

If you get caught with drugs or drunk driving, I feel strict consequences should follow. In many countries, you loose your license FOREVER. How about that for strict! I think we should get closer to something like that... But on the flip-side, I think we should be able to increase the alcohol content in beer...

I don't trust anyone that never drinks, I never trust anyone that is always drunk.

Why you should drink?

So you don't end up staying up until 3am when you should have gone to bed HOURS ago.

(Been up for 20 hours now and had a long day at work...)

Drinking is fine as long as you don't do certain things....

1. Never ever drive (I've lost two cousins due to this)

2. Don't drink 3/4 of a bottle of Jose Cuervo (Tequila)...baaad hangovers

3. Don't drink screwdrivers through a beer bong.

4. And last but not least, have fun with it, don't just get trashed and pass out, have some...tell jokes with your friends, have a good fu*king time!

(As for numbers 2 and 3 i found this out last night.....Oy my head and this damned computer screen isn't helping....but i can't stay away.

I am 14 and have never "tasted" any alcohol, and I intend to keep it that way.

Purple grape juice has all the good things that wine has without the alcohol.

Beer, I have heard, tastes gross.

I dunno, theres so much to drink, why drink crap?

At least I will always be a designated driver

Oh, and if you are on your learning permit, and you are driving, and your parental unit (that you are required to be with) is drunk and you crash, are you (or your parent) charged with drunk driving?

just a thought

the negligence on the part of your parents can be counted severely against them (6 month license suspension if people are mean). but police would rather a you drive with your permit than your parents drive drunk.

This topic is lame - "everything in moderation"

To deny something is prohibition and prohibition doesn't work

Would you try to deny McDonalds to obese people? Same thing - obese people eat themselves to an early grave.

How about we have a new topic "Why you shouldn't drink shakes"?
this sig intentionally left blank
