Boy, I'm sure glad there is flood control on this board. I've seen so many people edit their second post complaining about the fact that they used the back button on their browser and double posted. I accidently did that but got saved by flood control. Hurrah!

my question is how people get double posts if theres flood control. unless their connection is so slow it sends it after 60 seconds...

Good question. Unless flood control wasn't always on. (First time accidently hitting "back".) I'm on ADSL so perhaps that is how I got saved.

It might well be the case that the connection was sufficiently slow that it too over 60 seconds -- a while back the forums were terribly slow and if you compound that with a slow connection, flood control might not stop a double-post...

I'm glad there's flood control too or all these people would go post crazy.

I posted to AI last night, and an hour or so later came back to the computer. I had gone elsewhere afterwards, and when I wanted to go to AI again I held down the back button to bring up the list of viewed sites, and clicked what I thought was a forum list page. It ended up being the "wait while we create your new page" page after posting, so I had a double post, but over an hour later.
I didn't realize it for a while, must have looked weird though, a double post with about 5 in between.

Well, I'm sure it slows down people who aspire to the star-studded ranks of "Addicted to MacNN"...

I hate flood control. How the hell do I post to two topics at once when I have to wait a minute? Ugh.

Is there any way to make Flood Control thread specific so we can help Cipher get to 10K faster?

Ahhh, the double post thingie with flood control. A mystery to be sure. This came up awhile ago. The answer? The back button. I don't remember if it's IE or netscape (I think IE), but one of them, if you page back after posting, will repost your message. If you look at the time you posted, on both posts, you will see that they are usually different. Sometimes by an hour or two...
